What to do if you have a safeguarding concern

We are committed to creating and maintaining a safe environment for all young people in our care.

If you have any concerns regarding the safety or welfare of a pupil, you must report them immediately to one of the designated safeguarding staff members.

To formally log your concern, you are required to complete a ‘Cause for Concern’ form via our safeguard software platform. This form should include:

  • The time, date, and location of the incident or disclosure.
  • The names of any individuals who were present.
  • A clear and factual account of what was observed or shared.

If a pupil makes a disclosure to you:

  • Your role is to listen, do not interrupt or ask leading questions.
  • Use the TED approach to support the pupil in sharing their experience:
  • Tell me what happened.
  • Explain what you mean.
  • Describe how it made you feel.
  • Do not promise confidentiality. You have a duty to share safeguarding information with the appropriate staff to ensure the pupil receives the support they need.

Once you have submitted the concern via the platform, your responsibility for referral ends. However, if you're unsure whether the issue is serious enough to report, always speak to a designated safeguarding lead. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.

Concerned About a Child’s Safety? Please Speak Up

Every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and protected from harm, whether emotional, physical, sexual, or through neglect.

If you're worried about the wellbeing of a child or young person, please don’t keep it to yourself. Share your concern with a Designated Safeguarding Member of Staff so that the right support can be put in place.

Your voice could make all the difference.

Code of Conduct for Contractors

As part of our ongoing commitment to safeguarding and creating a safe, respectful environment for our school community, we kindly ask all companies and organisations whose staff work on or within our school site to follow a few important steps.

Before any work begins, we require a confirmation letter stating that all necessary safeguarding checks have been completed for your employees. This letter should be sent to us at the start of each academic year.

When arriving on site, all visiting staff must:

  • Present Photo ID to verify their identity, either on their first visit or each time if attending infrequently.
  • Wear their ID badge visibly at all times while on school premises.

We also ask that you take a moment to read our Code of Conduct for Contractors, which outlines key expectations around:

  • Site access and movement
  • Professional behaviour
  • Appropriate dress

These guidelines help ensure that everyone working in our school contributes to a safe and positive environment for our pupils.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us maintain a safe space for all.
