New look coming soon to Bush Hill Park Primary
Bush Hill Park Primary School is soon to have a brand new reception to welcome pupils, parents and visitors.
On 21 November 2018, part of the school’s current front wall on Main Avenue, which will be rebuilt to cater for a new security entrance, was felled by a handful of enthusiastic year four and year five pupils, Headteacher Anna Theodosiou and Chair of Governors Roger Kingsnorth.
Headteacher Anna Theodosiou, who has big plans for the school and high expectations for each of the school’s pupils, said: “Following much needed investment, a building project is underway to deliver a new reception to the primary school, which in December 2017, was again rated Good by Ofsted.”
The London Borough of Enfield funded project is due for completion in February 2019, and will provide a safe and welcoming entrance for families in the local community directly from Main Avenue, instead of the challenging route to reception through one of the school’s playgrounds.
Roger Kingsnorth, who joined the school as Chair of Governors in September 2018, said he was over the moon to see the building work progressing so well. He added: “It is a privilege to be a part of the effort to create a safer environment for the children in our local community. Each new brick will be a building block to make Bush Hill Park Primary the school of choice for the community.”
Two of the five pupils who took part and were dressed in hard hats and high-vis jackets for the occasion, excitedly shared their thoughts on the building project.
Leo in year five thought it was fun and said: “I was really happy to be trusted to knock down part of the school wall.”
Rachelle in year four said: “I think it’s a good idea that they are updating the building and the new building work will make the school really creative. This school helped me have confidence and I’m happy here.”
Bush Hill Park Primary School, built in 1895, is served by Bush Hill Park Station, offers 30 hours free early years childcare and welcomes three to eleven year olds.
