We understand the importance of creating opportunities for children to be curious, inspired and as a result, engaged in our expressive arts lessons.

We want to equip our children with the knowledge and skills to experiment, take risks and to invent and create their own works of art. In order to achieve this at Bush Hill Park, we aim to provide children with opportunities to access the arts within our broad and balanced curriculum. We aim to teach lessons which will foster the children's curiosity and inspire them to explore their ideas in a safe and nurturing environment.

We have chosen diverse artists and a variety of books for children to explore and to further imbed our values of respect, responsibility and resilience. As a school, we have developed long term overviews, a progression of skills and medium-term plans which teachers use to ensure that their sequence of lessons build on children's prior learning and pave the way for future learning.

This allows us to be consistent with our learning across the school. Overall, the teaching and learning at Bush Hill Park aims to incorporate a rich vocabulary which children can use and apply throughout the curriculum. By embedding the arts within our curriculum, we aim to increase self-confidence, creativity and a sense of achievement within our pupils.
